Putting Our Collective ‘Best Foot Forwards’

The Hopkins Manuscript is a dystopian novel written by R. C. Sherriff in 1939. Set on the eve of World War II, the novel describes how the nations of the world, previously bent on destroying each other, band together to meet a common catastrophe; the moon colliding with Earth.   Set in London, the main character, Edgar Hopkins, writes his own narrative about the lunar catastrophe.  It illustrates the very best of human nature in the face of impending doom.  And, indeed when the world is in crisis.  Small acts of kindness.  Focus on community.  Real teamwork.  Let’s hope this metaphor plays out for us in our workplaces and communities in the forthcoming days and weeks.
